Lions Open Final Week Of Spring Drills With Solid Workout

Southeastern to wrap up its 15-practice schedule on Friday

Kory Theodore made several key grabs during Monday's workout
HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana University football team opened its final week of spring practice on Monday as the Lions worked for two hours in full pads on the Southeastern Practice Fields.

The Lions, who will wrap up spring drills on Friday, continued their work on all phases concentrating early on special teams situations before holding several periods of live team drills.

Quarterback Brian Young continued his strong spring with the redshirt freshman tandem of Jordan Barnett and Jeremy Meyers each providing big plays. Receivers Reshad Douglas, Simmie Yarborough, Kory Theodore and Brandon Collins each provided the offense with Theodore making several key grabs during 7-on-7 drills.

“Offensively, we were very good today,” Southeastern head coach Mike Lucas said. “Our receivers did an outstanding job of running precise routes and getting the football. They all have played a big part of our offense and we're looking for big things from them this season.”

Southeastern, which opens the season Sept. 3 against Tulane in the Louisiana Superdome, will practice on Wednesday in full pads before holding its 15th and final practice on Friday.
