HAMMOND – The red-hot nationally-ranked Southeastern Louisiana baseball team will head to southwest Louisiana for four games during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
Fresh off a sweep of Southland Conference rival UTSA last weekend, the No. 26 Lions (15-1, 3-0 Southland) will head to Louisiana-Lafayette on Wednesday for a 6:30 p.m. non-conference contest. On Friday, Southeastern opens a three-game league series at McNeese State with a 6:30 p.m. contest in Lake Charles. The series continues on Saturday with a 3 p.m. contest and concludes with a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday. All of this week's baseball games will be broadcast live in the Hammond area on KSLU-FM (90.9) and on the Internet at www.LionSports.net.
The Southeastern softball team (5-11, 1-4 Southland) also will hit the road for four games this week. On Tuesday, the Lady Lions will be in Itta Bena, Miss. for a 3 p.m. non-conference contest at Mississippi Valley State. Southeastern will return to Southland Conference action over the weekend, heading to Central Arkansas for a three-game league series that opens with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday. The series concludes with a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday.
The Southeastern men's golf team will continue its spring season this week. The Lions, ranked 47th nationally in the latest GolfStat rankings will compete in the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Choudrant.
The women's tennis team (5-7, 2-3 Southland) will take a break from Southland action this week, hosting a pair on non-conference matches. On Friday, Purdue visits for a 2 p.m. match and Louisiana Tech travels to Southeastern for an 11 a.m. on Saturday. Both matches will be held at the Stone Creek Tennis Club in Covington.
The defending Southland Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field champions and their female counterparts will compete in their second meet of the outdoor season this week. On Saturday, the Lions and Lady Lions will participate in the Jim Mize Invitational in Ruston.
