HAMMOND, La. – The Southeastern Louisiana University track and field teams will compete in the Southland Conference championship meet, the men's and women's basketball teams will celebrate Senior Day, while the baseball, softball, tennis and beach volleyball programs will also be in action during this week in Southeastern Athletics.
The Lions and Lady Lions will open competition at the 2022 Southland Conference Indoor Championships Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama. The league indoor meet runs through Monday, Feb. 28.
The Southeastern men's and women's basketball teams will close out their home schedules this week. The Lions (15-13, 7-4 Southland) host New Orleans Thursday at 8 p.m. before Nicholls visits Saturday for a 4 p.m. matchup.
The Lady Lions (12-9, 8-3 Southland) opens their week with a 5:30 p.m. Thursday contest versus UNO. The SLU-Nicholls 1 p.m. matchup will open Saturday's doubleheader in the University Center.
After taking the season-opening series from SIUE last week, the SLU baseball team (2-1) will open its 2022 road schedule with a 6 p.m. contest on Tuesday at UL Lafayette. Southeastern returns home to open a three-game set versus UAB Friday at 6 p.m. The series continues with a 2 p.m. contest Saturday and concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The Southeastern softball team (6-2) continues its road swing this week, competing in the Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, Louisiana. The Lady Lions will face Portland State at 2 p.m. and Alabama at 4 p.m. Friday. Saturday's action will see SLU face Lipscomb at 3 p.m. and Eastern Illinois at 5 p.m. Sunday's tournament finale will see Southeastern take on St. Thomas at 9 a.m.
The Lion tennis team (0-6) has a pair of nonconference matches away from home this week. SLU opens the week's action with a 2 p.m. match at Southern Wednesday. Southeastern heads to Orlando, Florida for a match versus Keiser Sunday.
The SLU beach volleyball team will open its 2022 schedule this week at the HBU Tournament. The Beach Lions face the host Huskies at 11 a.m. Friday, before facing Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 2 p.m. Saturday will see Southeastern take on ULM at 10 a.m. and New Orleans at 3 p.m.

The 2022 season of Inside Southeastern Baseball with
Matt Riser is set to debut Monday at 12 p.m. from the patio of Pour House Pizza and Beer Garden. Riser will join co-host Allen Waddell at lunchtime every Monday during the season for the 60-minute show, talking the latest in Southeastern baseball. Each week, select Lion players will also join the duo. Pour House is located at 505 W. Thomas St. in Hammond. The show will initially be heard online at

The latest episode of Inside Southeastern Basketball with
David Kiefer is set for Monday at 7 p.m. The show will feature Kiefer and host Allen Waddell discussing Lion hoops every Monday through March 14 at Rainbow Daiquiris (14384 West Thomas Street). The show will air on Kajun 107.1 FM, The Highway 104.7 FM and The Boss 103.7 FM/1400 AM, as well as online at

Promotions
Saturday will be Senior Day for both the men's and women's basketball teams. Prior to the Lady Lions' contest with New Orleans, Caitlyn Williams, Morgan Carrier, Breonca Ducksworth, Morgan Davis, Kacey Brumfield and Chrissy Brown will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony. The Lion contingent of Keon Clergeot, Jalyn Hinton and Ryan Burkhardt will be recognized prior to the SLU-Nicholls contest.
Thursday will be a Cane's Challenge for the SLU-UNO doubleheader. If the Lady Lions score 50 or more points or the Lions score 60 or more points, fans can redeem their student coupon or game ticket at participating Raising Cane's Chicken Fingers for a free combo with purchase of another of equal or greater value.
Morgan Carrier will be Thursday's Spotlight Player of the Game for the women's basketball contest. The first 150 fans will receive a trading card featuring the New Iberia, Louisiana native courtesy of PRIDE.
