HAMMOND, La. – Senior Christina Cutura was named Southland Conference All-Academic Second Team for the Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team, the league office announced Thursday.

The Pearl River, Louisiana native compiled a grade point average of 3.5 majoring in Health Education & Promotion.

The Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 30 scored eight goals for the Lady Lions (7-7-4, 4-4-3 in the Southland). The forward became the first player in program history to record two hat tricks in the same season.

"Christina has always been very conscious of both academics and soccer," said SLU second-year soccer head coach Chris McBride. "It's great for her to receive this her senior year. She has really worked very hard on and off the field."

Cutura finished her SLU career with 13 goals scored, seven assists, 33 points, and had five game-winning goals.

Cutura was not alone with academic success. The Lady Lions had 13 student-athletes achieve a 3.5 or better in the fall led by freshmen Mia Milton, Sage Sammeli and Aubree Dillon each with a 4.0. Sophomore Megan Gordon wasn't far behind with a 3.8. Cutura, Claire Huston, Tilly-Hallas-Potts, Caroline Lee, Payton Colson, Lexie Gundersen, Bailey Scott, Amber Marinero and Sofia Olsson all achieved a 3.5 or better.

Southeastern will look to continue their success in the classroom as well as on the field after qualifying for the Southland Conference Tournament this year. The Lady Lions battled reigning conference champion Lamar Oct. 31 in Beaumont, Texas to the wire before falling 3-2 in the first round of the conference tournament.
