HAMMOND – The Southeastern Louisiana women's soccer team returns home this week to host a pair of Southland Conference matches at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
Southeastern (7-1-1, 2-0 Southland) will welcome a pair of new league members to open the home portion of its Southland schedule. On Friday, Incarnate Word (6-2, 0-1 Southland) comes to Hammond for a 4 p.m. match. Abilene Christian (8-0-1, 2-0 Southland) visits on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match.
The Lady Lions opened Southland play with 1-0 road victories at McNeese State and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last week. Freshman Brianna Singh scored the game-winning goals in both victories, while Southeastern extended its shutout streak to five matches, earning freshman
Hope Sabadash Southland Goalkeeper of the Week accolades.
Southeastern enters the week as the only Division I program ranked in the top 10 nationally in both scoring offense and defense. The Lady Lions are currently averaging 3.00 goals per game (8
th) and allowing just 0.31 goals per game (6
th).

Maddie Allen, Cable and Noonan have all seen action on a back line that has allowed just three goals this season. Sabadash leads the Southland Conference with a 0.35 goals against average and has not allowed a goal in her last 425 minutes of action.
Incarnate Word opened Southland Conference play with a 3-1 loss to Sam Houston State. Seniors Sydney Solomon and Katie Miller share the team lead with five goals each, while Solomon also leads the team with four assists. Sophomore Heather Kowalik has handled the majority of the goalkeeping duties and enters Friday's match with a 1.27 goals against average.
Abilene Christian, which faces Nicholls on Friday in a battle of unbeatens, won its first two league matches, defeating Sam Houston State and Houston Baptist. Senior Andrea Carpenter paces the squad with seven goals, while she and freshman Alyssa Gerner sharing the team lead with four assists. Freshmen Sydney Newton (0.51 GAA) and Kelsey Domrowski (0.57 GAA) have split time in goal for the Wildcats.
This week's action is part of a three-game home swing for the Lady Lions. On Sunday, Oct. 6, Southeastern plays host to Southland foe Lamar at 1 p.m. at the Southeastern Soccer Complex.
