HAMMOND – Southeastern Louisiana sophomores
Morgane Dadot and
Audrey Chelini were named to the 2010 Louisiana Sports Writers Association Women's Collegiate All-Louisiana Tennis Team in an announcement from the LSWA on Thursday.
Dadot, a Reunion, France native, was named to the squad as a second team selection. A Bordeaux, France product, Chelini was an honorable mention pick.
The Lady Lion sophomores were the top two singles players for the Lady Lions in 2010. Featuring a roster that included four freshman and four sophomores, Southeastern returned to the Southland Conference Tournament for the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
Dadot was named to the team for the first time after posting a team-best 15-6 singles record during the spring. Gradually moving up to the No. 2 position after starting the season at No. 4, Dadot posted a six-match and a separate four-match win streak during the spring. She was 5-1 versus Louisiana opponents in singles play.
A second team All-Louisiana choice as a freshman, Chelini was named among the state's best for the second consecutive season. After posting a 14-7 singles mark at No. 2 in 2009, Chelini adjusted well to the move to the No. 1 position, as she replaced four-time All-Louisiana honoree and 2009 senior
Iva Velkovska. Chelini posted a 12-9 mark at No. 1 and a 4-3 mark versus in-state opponents.
Southland Conference regular season and tournament champion Northwestern State took home three of the individual awards. Martina Rubesova was named Player and Newcomer of the Year, while NSU head coach Patric DuBois was tabbed the state's top coach. LSU's Keri Frankenberger was named Freshman of the Year.
The teams were selected based on nominations made by the tennis playing schools in the state and voted on by an LSWA panel.
