Wayne Booker played two seasons for the Lions as they were making the transition to Division I status and playing as an independent in the NCAA.  He was a two-time All-Southeastern Independent selection and was an all-Louisiana pick in 1981-82. He led the Lions in scoring once and twice led the team in assists. He still ranks among the all-time rebound leaders and helped Southeastern two winnings seasons in its first two years in Division I competition.  He was inducted into the Itawamba Community College Hall of Fame in 2005. Following his playing career, he was signed by the NBA's Atlanta Hawks to compete in the 1982 NBA Summer League.
