Wade Miley is a current Major League pitcher, having spent time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Boston Red Sox. He was selected 43rd overall in the Major League Baseball draft by Arizona in 2008. After making his debut in August of 2011, he finished the season with a 4-2 record. In 2012, he was named the National League Rookie of the Year by the Sporting News after finishing with a 16-11 record and a 3.33 earned run average. Prior to the 2015 season, he signed a multi-year free agent deal with the Boston Red Sox.

At SLU, Miley went 7-3 with a 3.90 ERA (44 ER/101.2 IP) in 2008, leading the Lions and the Southland Conference with 119 strikeouts, the second-highest single season total in school history and the sixth-best total in the nation that season. His 259 career strikeouts rank second on the school's all-time list behind Bob Hardy (283 from 1959-62).

As a senior, Miley led Lion starters in wins (7), innings pitched (101.2), complete games (4) and opponent batting average (.266). Miley recorded a 10.6 K/9.0 IP mark, and allowed just 41 walks, good for a 2.9 K/BB ratio. He was named the 2007-08 Southeastern Male Athlete of the Year.
