Sheldon Fernandez was the top power hitter for Southeastern in the late 1950's He led the Lions in home runs in three different seasons. His best year came in 1959, when he hit .350 with six home runs and 26 runs batted in. He earned all-Gulf States Conference honors in 1961 and was Southeastern’s Alumnus of the Year in 1998.
