Robert Martin was Southeastern's first national champion in any sport, earning a national crown in the 120-yard high hurdles at the 1974 NCAA Nationals. He was also the track program's first All-American, earning that honor from the NAIA in 1973. A six-time All-American, Martin won the Gulf South Conference title three times in the 120-yard high hurdles. He finished his Southeastern career the holder of six school records.
