Robert "Doc" Goodwin was elected to the Southeastern Hall of Fame for a career that spanned 31 years as Southeastern’s head athletic trainer.
An active member of the Southeastern Alumni Association, Goodwin served as president of the Alumni Association and also the Tangi Chapter as well as serving on a committee that played a major role in the construction of the present Alumni center. He has received the Distinguished Service Award and the L.E. Chandler Award for service to students, both honors from the Alumni Association.
Instrumental in helping create the university’s Sports Medicine curriculum, he was also a charter member of the Louisiana Sports Medicine Society and was instrument tal in creating the North Oaks Sports Medicine Program.
His honors include induction into the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, the Louisiana Sports Medicine Society Jim Finks Award and the National Athletic Trainers Association District IX Service Award. He also received the Southeastern President’s Award for Excellence in 2001.
