Ralph Smith was a two-time All-American sprinter for the Lions track and field team. In 1975, he led the Lions to the NAIA National Championship, winning individual national crowns in the 100-yard and 220-yard dashes. He also was a member of the 440-yard relay team that won the national championship at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II meets.
