The sixth-leading vote getter for the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association's 25-woman All-Century Collegiate Basketball Team, Queen Brumfield Nard was inducted into the LSWA Hall of Fame during the summer of 2002 and became just the second person from Southeastern, joining football coach Stan Galloway, to be so honored. She is also one of three women's basketball players in school history - along with fellow Southeastern Hall of Famers Robin Roberts and Pam Cook Forrest - to have her jersey retired.
The only three-time All-American in the history of Lady Lion basketball, Brumfield set school career marks in points (2,972) and rebounds (1,586) which have remained untouchable. Her career point total is over 1,100 more than second place in the Southeastern books and her boards outdistance her nearest equal by over 400. The rebounding total is also a state record. Brumfield, a three-time All-Louisiana player, led the Lady Lions to the 1976-77 AIAW National Championship as well as four consecutive LAIAW state and SWAIAW regional championships. Along with her career points and rebounds marks, Brumfield also holds numerous other Southeastern standards including most games (133), career scoring average (22.3), career rebound average (13.0), points in a season (910), single season scoring average (26.0), most rebounds in a season (431), field goals attempted in a season (605), FG made in a season (351), season record for free throws attempted and made (284-208), as well as single season blocks (80).
