Matt Carvell was a consistent performer for the Lion golf team from 2005-09, earning second team All-Southland Conference honors all four seasons. He was also an excellent performer in the classroom, earning Cleveland Golf/Srixon Academic All-America and Southland All-Academic accolades each of his final two seasons. A three-time All-Louisiana selection, he helped the Lions to an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Regional before participating as an individual in the 2009 NCAA Regional. As a senior, he tied a national record, becoming the seventh collegiate player in history to record a round of 60.
