A member of the Louisiana Association of Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, Luther Marlar is the all-time winningest coach in Southeastern men's basketball history. During his 20-year tenure, Marlar led the Lions to seven winning seasons, including the team's first-ever 20-win season in 1953-54 when the Lions advance to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Tournament.
Marlar also coached the Lions in golf, earning Top-10 rankings three times, and baseball. In addition, he served as a basketball coach for Sudan in the 1968 Olympics and as a member of the NAIA Executive Committee.
