Harry Nunez toiled on the gridiron for the Lions from 1962-65 and was twice named to the All-Gulf States Conference team at halfback. As a senior, he led SLU in rushing and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player. In his junior season, he rushed for 169 yards at Northwestern State, which is the 17^th-highest single-game total in program history. Following his playing career, he dedicated himself for 54 years to the coaching profession, impacting countless lives. A member of the Holy Cross High School Athletics Hall of Fame, he led St. Paul’s School to the first and only 10-0 season in school history in 1990.
