Bobby Hill, who played football for the Lions from 1971-74, was one of the most prolific receivers in school history prior to the return of the sport in 2003 and the installation of the “Air Raid” offense under former coach Hal Mumme.
Hill, an All-Gulf South Conference selection in 1972, set a then-school record with 48 receptions and finished his career with 88 receptions, which was second to Duane Floyd’s 145 catches from 1965-68. Hill led the team in receptions from 1972-74 and remains in the Southeastern record books in career receptions (currently eighth), receiving yards (10th with 1,217) and his 48 receptions in 1972 is tied with former Lions Josh Taylor and Hutch Gonzales for ninth in a single-season.
Hill coached football for over 20 years, including 16 at Albany Middle School where he posted a 107-47 record with four undefeated championships in his tenure at AMS.
