Aubrey Cole was a standout on the men's basketball team, including earning all-Gulf States Conference honors for 1948-49, the first all-conference basketball selection in Southeastern history. As a senior, he led the Lions with 11.9 points per game and connected on a team-best 76.3 percent of his free-throw attempts. He was drafted by the Baltimore Bullets after his career at Southeastern.
