Amir Abdur-Rahim was a three-time All-Southland Conference guard from 2001-04, the Marietta, Georgia native ranks among the school’s career leaders in points (1,284), three-point field goals made (194) and steals (120). The 2003-04 Southeastern Male Athlete of the Year led the Lions to their first SLC regular season championship as a senior. Since his playing career ended, Abdur-Rahim has developed into one of the nation’s fastest rising coaches. After assistant coaching stints at Murray State, Georgia Tech, College of Charleston, Texas A&M and Georgia, Abdur-Rahim earned his first head coaching job at Kennesaw State. The Owls steadily improved under Abdur-Rahim’s tutelage, culminating in winning the ASUN Conference championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. In his first season at South Florida, he earned AAC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Bulls to the conference regular season championship.He passed away in October 2024.
