Young is arguably the most accomplished SLU student-athlete of the 21st century. During his time in Hammond from 2015-17, the Nashville, Tennessee native excelled in all facets of the student-athlete experience. At the 2016 NCAA Indoor National Championships, he won the school’s first and only Division I individual national championship in the weight throw. One of three four-time All-Americans in school history, Young holds the top four performances in the weight throw and the top five showings in the hammer throw in Southland Conference history. He was named SLC and Louisiana Athlete of the Year as a senior and is a two-time SLU Male Athlete of the Year. The 2015 Louisiana and Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year was also a three-time All-Louisiana selection. Young also excelled in the classroom and was twice named an Academic All-America and the Southland Track Student-Athlete of the Year.
