HAMMOND – Afternoon storms in the Hammond area cut short Southeastern Louisiana University's football workout as the Lions were forced off the field after 90 minutes on Monday.
The Lions, who open the season on Sept. 1 at SEC newcomer Missouri, worked out for a second day in full gear stressing fundamentals during individual periods while staging their first live 11-on-11 action of camp.
“We got some good work in,” Southeastern head coach
Ron Roberts said. “Obviously, practice got cut short and we didn't get everything we wanted to get done. The work that we did get in, especially when you're at this stage with live (action), you really need to look at the video before you can tell too much about it. The tempo was good, that's been good throughout camp.
“But we're making too many mistakes and at some point, that's got to stop. We've got to able to focus a little more and be able to eliminate mistakes. We got the majority of our stuff in today. We didn't get to our red zone part, but we'll get that tomorrow.”
Southeastern will return to practice on Tuesday at 4:50 p.m. The Lions will open two-a-days on Wednesday with the first workout beginning at 7 a.m. in shells before working out in full gear at 4:50 p.m. All practices are open to the public.

Southeastern opens its 2012 home slate on Sept. 8 against South Dakota State and will also host McNeese State (Sept. 22), Northwestern State (Oct. 13), Central Arkansas (Oct. 27) and Stephen F.
